This information is intended to provide you with some basic guidance regarding your travels to and stay in Hamburg, Germany.

Visa for Germany

We encourage you to visit The Federal Foreign Office website to determine if you require or are exempted from the visa requirements imposed by the Federal Republic of Germany.  

To avoid time-consuming requests for additional information or documentation, please consult the website of the German embassy or consulate in your place of residence to find out about the visa procedure and required documentation. 

 

Invitation Letter for Visa Applications

As we are only able to generate invitation letters for visa application through the registration site, it is important that you complete the online registration process to obtain your letter.

Language
The official language of ISC is English.

 

Currency
The local currency is EURO. All payments must be made in EURO.

 

Credit Card
Please make sure to bring one VISA or MASTER credit card with you, as AMEX may not be accepted everywhere.

Venue

The CCH is conveniently located in the city center. The Dammtor mainline train station and several other stations and stops of the public transportation system are located between 100 to 500 meters.

Directions

Public Transport:

The Dammtor mainline and commuter train station is close to the CCH and conveniently connected to the Deutsche Bahn’s national and international rail networks.

By train: If you arrive at the Hamburg central station, the CCH is only one stop away. Take the S21 commuter train (bound for Elbgaustraße) and exit at Dammtor station. A walk from Dammtor station to the CCH takes two minutes.

By U-Bahn: From the subway stations (Stephansplatz (Oper/CCH) and (Gänsemarkt), a short stroll through the center and the Planten un Blomen park will take you to the CCH.

 

Arriving by Car:
If you are traveling to the CCH by car or motorcycle from outside Hamburg, we advise you to take the speedways, then follow the “Messe / CCH” signs.

Arriving by Plane:

Over 50 airlines link Hamburg directly with 115 national and international destinations (as of 09/2022). Hamburg Airport is located north of Hamburg in the Fuhlsbüttel district.

The commuter ("S” train) will quickly take you to the CCH. The commuter train departs directly from the airport and takes 30 minutes to arrive at the CCH. You may also take a taxi or use MOIA, the new ridesharing service for Hamburg. The trip by car takes only 20 minutes unless the traffic is congested.
